Harry's Paradise: my oh my will we miss you and the sleepy little Kalymnos village Emporios. It will be an oasis of calm that won't be forgotten any time soon... Maybe it was the super friendly locals (see-ya our veggie truck mate), the yummy home made food at the tavernas, the fresh and clear water with gentle lapping waves, or maybe it's just all the right bits in the right order at the right time. Who knows. We thoroughly recommended this haven to others if you're thinking of making your way to this area of the world!
Matt wanted to share his favourite brekky - really a Cretan dish but found all over Greece. It's called Dakos ('bread salad', so not actually just a breakfast thing - more of a meze) and can contain many different things, but the basic version consists of: broken pieces of barley rusk (think: rock hard old bread) covered in diced fresh tomatoes, crumbled feta, olive oil and lightly sprinkled with pungeaunt Greek oregano (oh that aroma!). Wowzers that is some tasty up and go in the morning! The end result looks something like this...
Just time for a few more pikkys before we head off to bed. A lot to do tomorrow! Hah, actually, not really. See you all in a little while.
We've been lucky enough to have eleven nights here, but tonight is our last - enough faffing around, lazing on the beach and bronzing our toned six packs (beer, not muscle). It's time to get this trip truly underway. Tomorrow we fly to Athens, pick up our car (please be there please be there pleeeease be there), and then the following day we drive all the way to Vuno near Dhermi Beach in southern Albania. It'll be an early start as we have 8+ hours of driving to do. Lucky we have a Ford Fiesta Style Climate to keep us cool all the way there right? We'll be camping at an old school there that has been converted into a hostel and campsite. Goat milk mmmmmm !
After that we had to Tirana (the capital of Albania) for a couple of nights, and then to Northern Albania for a multi-day hike across some peaks.
